Millions of Twitter users mocked a suspected AI-generated photo of the singer walking the Met Gala carpet Monday night. Despite not appearing at this year’s event, a fan pinned Gomez’s face to a photo of Lily James at the 2022 Met Gala and teased Gomez for the fashion’s “surprise” Biggest Night – This made Twitter popular.
Despite being fake, the photo garnered 22.9 million views and 395,300 likes, making it the most popular photo of the night in front of the real crowd, with Anne Hathaway at the top of the list with 234,000 likes, with Zan second.
Twitter has added a disclaimer stating that the photo has been “edited” and that Gomez has not attended the Met Gala since 2018.

Despite the warning, some Twitter users were outraged by its flaws.
Gomez’ failed to resolve the controversy over the viral photo.
This isn’t the first time people have been deceived by AI-generated images. In March, a fake photo of Pope Francis in a white shirt sparked controversy and was viewed 4.4 million times.
