The ULM Warhawk women’s track and field team had a standout performance at the Louisiana Classics meet, with four athletes combining to win six events.
Senior Travia Jones had a particularly strong showing, winning both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Her times of 11.61 seconds and 23.68 seconds, respectively, were not only good enough to take home the top spot in each event, but also set new personal records for Jones.
Fellow senior Destinee Jeanpiere also had a successful meet, winning the long jump with a distance of 6.16 meters. She also placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.15 seconds.
Sophomore Janiel McDonald rounded out the individual event winners for the Warhawks, taking first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.69 seconds.
The Warhawks also had success in relay events, with the team of Jones, McDonald, senior Mikayla Barber, and freshman Tia Williams winning both the 4×100-meter relay and the 4×200-meter relay.
Overall, the Warhawk women’s team had an impressive showing at the Louisiana Classics, with these four athletes leading the way with their exceptional performances. With this kind of talent and success, the future looks bright for the ULM women’s track and field team.
