Google introduced some new tools for businesses that use generative artificial intelligence to enhance online shopping and other retail operations. This update was shared by Google’s cloud business in a press release on Thursday.
The set of new products includes a chatbot powered by generative AI. Retailers can use this chatbot on websites and mobile apps. These virtual agents are capable of conversing with consumers and providing product recommendations tailored to the preferences of the shoppers, as stated by Google.
“In just a year, generative AI has transformed from a concept that was barely acknowledged to one of the swiftly advancing capabilities in the technology realm. Carrie Tharp, the Vice President of Strategic Industries at Google Cloud, mentioned this in the release and highlighted its significance for many retailers’ agendas.”
Introduces New AI Tools for Retail and Sellers
The recent offerings from Google Cloud showcase the increasing impact of generative AI in the retail sector. In September, Amazon introduced an AI tool for sellers, and during the latest holiday shopping season, numerous retailers embraced the emerging technology behind the scenes.
As part of the lineup revealed on Thursday, Google introduced a significant language model feature aimed at enhancing the quality of product searches. While currently accessible to specific stores, the company mentioned that it will be made generally available later this year.
Among the recently introduced AI products by Google are tools designed to improve customer service systems and streamline product cataloging processes for retailers.
In addition to online shopping, traditional brick-and-mortar stores are gaining new AI capabilities through Google Distributed Cloud Edge, an existing hardware and software product. Google Cloud’s recent announcement of its latest AI tools coincides with the days leading up to the commencement of the National Retail Federation’s annual convention in New York City.
Moreover, last year e-commerce giant Amazon launched AI image generation tools for its advertisers, offering an easy way to create backgrounds or scenes around whatever product ad buyers are hoping to sell.
Google has unveiled advanced AI tools for retail, featuring chatbots that use smart AI for personalized customer engagement. The industry is rapidly evolving, with Google Cloud’s Carrie Tharp emphasizing the tech-driven transformation. Aligning with Amazon’s initiatives, Google’s tools promise improved shopping experiences and streamlined operations for retailers, shaping the future of the industry.
