Semtech Corporation has launched a new integrated circuit (IC) specifically designed for 5G mobile devices, expanding its PerSe product portfolio. The new IC, PerSe Connect SX9376, has been built to improve connectivity and enable end devices, including smartphones, to implement advanced radio frequency control.
The IC enables designers to optimize radio frequency performance and comply with global specific absorption rate (SAR) standards for 5G-enabled devices. Semtech’s PerSe sensors have been leading the connected device market for the last decade, offering responsive consumer experiences. Semtech’s chips are adopted by industry-leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to deliver superior device performance, battery life, regulatory compliance and user safety.
The 5G market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 47.6% with a market valuation of USD 198.44 Billion by 2030. To address the frequency increase in 5G-enabled products, OEMs need to add more RF antennas to the design. However, this can make it challenging to comply with global SAR regulations and manage the device’s RF power.
Semtech Corporation has released the PerSe Connect SX9376, a new IC designed to address these challenges. The SX9376 has a maximum of eight sensor inputs to support multiple antennas, simplifying the sensor design without compromising performance and regulation. It is also compatible with various antenna designs, making it easy to integrate into the latest 5G mobile devices. The chipset enables optimization of system RF performance, enhances connectivity, and supports global SAR compliance.
Its high-resolution analog front end (AFE) down to 0.74aF delivers best-in-class sensing performance. Moreover, it provides superior robustness with advanced temperature correction, minimizing false triggers caused by noise and temperature. The SX9376 is a single-chip, fully integrated solution that supports all SAR sensing needs.
