The Mexican mutual funds market, also known as OFIs, has been steadily growing over the past few years. According to a recent league table report, assets gathered by cross-border fund managers and ETF sponsors in the Mexican OFI market reached new heights as of March 31, 2023. The report provides a comprehensive overview of the companies that have been successful in accumulating assets in the Mexican OFI market.
The league table report shows that iShares, JPMorgan, and Vanguard are the top three companies in terms of assets gathered in the Mexican OFI market. iShares leads the way with a total of $19.6 billion in assets under management, followed by JPMorgan with $18.2 billion and Vanguard with $16.9 billion. State Street and Invesco complete the top five with $12.6 billion and $10.2 billion in assets under management, respectively.
The league table report also highlights the growing popularity of ETFs in the Mexican OFI market. BlackRock’s iShares is the clear leader in this space with a total of $16.5 billion in assets under management, followed by WisdomTree with $2.2 billion and Global X with $1.9 billion. ProShares and Defiance ETFs complete the top five with $1.5 billion and $1.1 billion in assets under management, respectively.
In terms of fund managers, BlackRock leads the way with a total of $26.1 billion in assets under management, followed by JPMorgan with $25.1 billion and Vanguard with $23.3 billion. PIMCO and Deutsche Bank complete the top five with $16.5 billion and $14.8 billion in assets under management, respectively.
The league table report also provides insights into the most popular fund categories in the Mexican OFI market. Equity funds are by far the most popular, accounting for 45.2% of total assets under management, followed by fixed income funds with 35.1%. Multi-asset funds and money market funds make up the rest of the market share with 12.9% and 6.8%, respectively.
