Meta is stepping up its use of artificial intelligence to enhance the shopping experience on its platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, as it looks to drive more e-commerce activity.
At the Shoptalk 2026 conference, the company announced it will begin testing a new feature that provides users with expanded product insights after they click on an ad or visit a website through its apps.
The new experience will use AI to summarize user reviews, offering a quick overview of “what people are saying” about a product. Similar to features introduced by Amazon in 2023, the tool will present a short summary along with key bullet points, helping users avoid scrolling through large volumes of feedback.
Beyond review summaries, the feature will also display additional information such as brand details, recommended products, and available discounts or promotions. On product pages, users will also see an option to add items directly to their cart.

Meta is also introducing an updated checkout system developed in partnership with Stripe and PayPal, enabling users to complete purchases with a single tap without leaving the app. The company is working on further integrations with Adyen and Shopify, which are expected to roll out in the future.

Advertisers will be able to choose their preferred checkout partner, allowing them to manage transactions and order fulfillment while keeping users within Meta’s ecosystem.
In addition to checkout improvements, Meta is expanding its product discovery tools, particularly for creators. The company is broadening its affiliate partnerships to include major platforms such as eBay and Temu in the United States, Mercado Libre in Latin America, and Shopee in Asia.
Later this year, Instagram will begin testing affiliate integrations with Amazon in the U.S. and Shopee in Asia, allowing partners to select featured products and define commission structures for creators.
Additionally, creators on Instagram Reels will gain access to product catalogs from businesses across 22 countries, making it easier to discover and promote items within their content.
With these updates, Meta is positioning its platforms as more integrated shopping destinations, combining AI-driven insights, streamlined checkout, and creator-led commerce.
