Thinking Machines Lab, the New AI Venture Led by Former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, Targets Historic $2B Seed Roun
Thinking Machines Lab — the newly launched AI startup founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati — is reportedly in the process of raising one of the largest seed funding rounds ever.
According to Business Insider, the company has doubled its initial funding target, now seeking $2 billion in seed investment. If successful, the round would place the company’s valuation at a minimum of $10 billion.
Despite having no publicly launched product or revenue, Thinking Machines Lab is attracting significant investor interest thanks to its star-studded team. The startup has already assembled a roster of elite AI talent, including high-profile names like Bob McGrew, OpenAI’s former chief research officer, and Alec Radford, the influential researcher behind several of OpenAI’s major breakthroughs — both of whom have joined as advisers.
The company, which recently emerged from stealth mode, has shared its mission: to build AI systems that are more transparent, customizable, and generally capable than what currently exists in the market.
