A new report reveals that a growing number of people are building their fortunes through cryptocurrency, with the population of crypto millionaires and billionaires reaching record highs.
According to the Crypto Wealth Report from investment advisory firm Henley & Partners, the number of crypto millionaires rose by 40% over the past year, while the count of crypto billionaires climbed 29%.
The report, based on data through June 30, shows there are now around 241,700 crypto millionaires and 36 crypto billionaires worldwide.
“This significant growth aligns with a landmark year for institutional adoption, marked by the launch of the first cryptocurrencies introduced by a sitting U.S. president and first lady,” the report stated.
Bitcoin has been the main driver of this surge in wealth. The number of Bitcoin millionaires jumped 70% over the past year to 145,100. Meanwhile, Bitcoin centi-millionaires—those holding at least $100 million—and Bitcoin billionaires increased 63% and 55%, respectively.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency by market value has surged 78% over the past 12 months, trading at $112,881 as of June 30—more than 5% higher than on the final day of data collection. Bitcoin has since continued to climb in 2025, setting a new all-time high of $124,128 in August after breaking past $100,000 for the first time in December.
Some of this rise is tied to the growing acceptance of crypto’s role in the U.S. financial system, as the Trump administration has adopted a more favorable stance on digital asset innovation.
But crypto wealth is spreading far beyond America, the report notes.
“While about $14.4 trillion in wealth crossed borders in 2024, the global financial system still assumes that money must have a home address—but crypto doesn’t,” said Dominic Volek, group head of private clients at Henley & Partners.
“For thousands of years, storing wealth meant tying it to a specific location… today, cryptocurrency has made geography irrelevant—with just 12 memorized words, a person can secure billions in Bitcoin, instantly accessible from Zurich or Zhengzhou.”
The report also points to a new trend: it’s not only individuals reaping crypto wealth. AI agents and bots are starting to play a role in the financial landscape, citing the rise of Truth Terminal—known for sparking the Fartcoin craze—and its own path to millionaire status in 2024.
