Nvidia, revealed a cutting-edge computer chip on Tuesday, designed to fuel artificial intelligence (AI) models and maintain the company’s leading position in the AI field.
Headquartered in Santa Clara, California, Nvidia has gained significant prominence in the realm of AI, partially owing to its graphics processing units (GPUs), which are instrumental in training large language models that drive AI applications like ChatGPT. The latest iteration of Nvidia’s Grace Hopper Superchip surpasses the current model by more than tripling both memory capacity and bandwidth.
Nvidia’s co-founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, stated, “To address the rising demand for generative AI, data centers require accelerated computing platforms tailored to specific requirements.” He added, “The new GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip platform fulfills this need through exceptional memory technology and bandwidth, enhancing throughput, enabling seamless GPU connection for aggregated performance, and featuring a server design that can be effortlessly deployed throughout the entire data center.”
Leading manufacturers are already making available the previously announced edition of Nvidia’s Grace Hopper Superchip. The forthcoming iteration, which represents the next generation, will seamlessly align with Nvidia’s MGX data center servers. The company anticipates that this compatibility will facilitate swift and budget-friendly integration into the preferred server configuration for customers.

Expanding Data Center Reach and AI Capacity
During a keynote speech at a computer graphics conference, Huang expressed that the upcoming superchip is meticulously crafted to “expand the reach of the world’s data centers.”
He further highlighted that it will amplify the capacity of AI software to create content or formulate predictions, commonly referred to as inference. This enhancement is poised to assist businesses in curtailing expenses during the evolution of their AI tools.
Huang elaborated, “Virtually any extensive language model can be incorporated into this framework, leading to a substantial surge in inference capability. The associated costs of conducting inferences using large language models will undergo a substantial reduction.”
As per a press statement, the corporation outlined that the next-gen platform is projected to commence deliveries during the second quarter of the 2024 calendar year. Huang mentioned that samples will be accessible by the close of the year. Nvidia’s strategy involves presenting customers with two alternatives of the platform: one featuring a pair of chips that customers can incorporate into their setups, and a comprehensive server system that amalgamates two Grace Hopper designs.
In late May 2023, Nvidia achieved a market capitalization exceeding the $1 trillion mark for the very first time.
Bolstered by the upsurge in AI enthusiasm, the company’s stock price has witnessed a remarkable ascent, climbing from slightly above $143 per share to surpass $446 per share by the end of Tuesday’s trading session. This translates to a year-to-date increase of approximately 212%.
